My 22 month old son is a wanderer!?

This may not be what you are hoping for but you may have to get him a wrist or a backpack that has a rope on it. I know i know people hate them but I think i would be better to keep him near you then worry about what others think. I was a wanderer when i was little and i remember having a mini mouse one. I didn't traumatize me lol. It was the only way for my mom to keep me safe when we went out. Wal-mart has the backpack ones that comes in a monkey and a bear. You can tuck the rope in the bag until its needed and its a cute little thing. We are going to have to buy one for my daughter soon seeing as she likes to just take off and doesn't listen when we try to get her attention. Shes 19 months old.
