Novel Comparison with Dorian Gray?

I have to read two diffent novels, that are prior to 1900. I have chosen my first novel however I need to choose a second novel that i can write a comparitive essay on. It has to be an 11th or 12th grade novel, that has somewhat of the same themes and motifs as the picture of dorian gray. One of my possible choices i came up with was Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, but i'm sure there's a better (somewhat easier) novel that I could chose to write my comparitive essay. What are some other novels prior to 1900 at an 11th or 12th grade level that would be easily comparalbe to the picture of dorian gary? Thanks
