Whirring sound on subaru, is this normal?

i just bought a 1998 subaru impreza 2.2 liter, and when i drive it, i hear the engine but i also hear an air sound like wind coming from under the hood, just wondering if this is the normal sound for a subaru. it sounds similar to other subarus on youtube but i cant be sure. when i open the hood and hit the gas, its definitely coming from the motor so im thinking its just loud?
