What can I do to help my 9mo's painful BMs?

Formula does this to babies. I don't know what else to do. Just make fun with the prunes don't say around him "Oh, he doesn't like that." because he will believe you and that's how picky eaters start. You could do the bicycle motion with his leg which helps. More water will help as well.
