Why do liberals insist on putting words in the mouths of those with whom they disagree?

I just read the "best answer" in response to a question I answered last night, and that "best answer" exemplifies what I'm asking here. Why do liberals ume conservatives think in certain ways IN WHICH WE DO NOT THINK, and make up words and/or thoughts to ign to us? Just because we disagree with them does not mean we fall into their categories, does it?
